McPharlen Mgunda is a CEO and founder of Worldwide Power Engineering. McPharlen has vast knowledge in Power Systems studies, design, construction and operation. McPharlen has held various senior engineering positions in some of the world’s 100 fortune companies. He has experience in Research and Product Development, Revenue Management and Project Management. McPharlen has built Substations, Overhead Lines, large scale and small-scale solar and battery storage systems across Malawi and United States of America.

McPharlen is a Chartered Engineer and licensed International Professional Engineer (IntPE) by Engineering Council, UK. He holds Master of Science in Engineering from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, USA; BSc. in Electrical Engineering, from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio, USA; Minors in Economics and International Business Management from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio, USA; Advanced Electrical Engineering Technology from City and Guilds of London Institute; Secure Communication Networking for Distributed Energy Resources Certificate from University of California, San Diego, California, USA.

McPharlen is an active member of Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standard Association (IEEE-SA). He was involved in developing original IEEE P2800 Standard, which is used worldwide for Inverter based renewable generations interconnected to transmission grid. He is also an active member of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Engineering Council, IEEE Power and Energy Society, IEEE Smart City Community.

Bio :

Lyphord Mgunda is a CFO and Director of Administration of Worldwide Power Engineering. Lyphord has vast knowledge in Financial Accounting, Financial Management, Auditing and Treasury management. He has experience in financial statements preparations, Budgeting, Planning, Risk assessments, Reconciliation and wealth management, He has worked in the banking sector for quite a while, handling banks investments, debt, managing the bank’s liquidity per fortnight, overseeing international payments and domestic payments systems


Lyphord holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting, auditing and information systems from Malawi college of accountancy. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in finance specializing in wealth management from the University of Chancellor college of Malawi.


Lyphord is an active Banker, with vast experience in banking, Treasury Management, customer service and product creation, at the same time He is conversant with International Accounting standards (IAS), and Tax Regulation in Malawi.

Bio :

Lytton is the Director of Engineering and Operations of WorldWide Power Engineering (WWPE). He is an accomplished Power Systems Engineer/Manager/energy expert with over 34 years of experience in a power utility organization, Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM). Lytton has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences; an International Diploma in Project Management from Cambridge University and a Masters’ of Business management in general management from University of Hull (UK).


Lytton’s major strengths and achievements include: Highly experienced in electricity network and substation design, planning, construction, maintenance and operations and project management at 132/66/33/11/0.4 Kilovolts.  Additional skills and experience include but are not limited to designing and implementing and managing energy-efficiency projects and activities resulting in reducing Distribution network losses and improved cash flow. Lytton is a team player with good interpersonal skills. He is accredited for good customer service skills. He is a member of the Malawi Engineering Institution (MEI).
